Andrew Thomas Undergoes Ankle Surgery
3 years agoNew York Giants left tackle Andrew Thomas (ankle) had surgery on his left ankle in late January, according to a source. Thomas had surgery on the same ankle after his rookie season, but he's expected to be 100% by the start of the offseason program. The 23-year-old also suffered a mid-foot sprain to his right foot, which landed him on Injured Reserve for three weeks in the middle of the season. However, Thomas was solid when healthy after allowing the second-most quarterback pressures (57) among tackles in his rookie season in 2020, according to Pro Football Focus. The fourth overall pick in the 2020 draft was charged with only 18 QB pressures in 2021. Expect the Giants to take it slow with Thomas in the spring, but he should be fully ready to protect quarterback Daniel Jones' blind side in 2022.
