Commanders Hire Juan Castillo As Tight Ends Coach
3 years agoThe Washington Commanders hired veteran assistant coach Juan Castillo to be their new tight ends coach on Friday, replacing the retiring Pete Hoener, according to a source. Castillo worked with head coach Ron Rivera two decades ago with the Philadelphia Eagles from 1999-2003 and was most recently the Chicago Bears offensive line coach. It will be the first time that Castillo has coached tight ends in 25 years. He spent a total of 17 seasons with the Eagles, including 13 as an offensive line coach. Castillo was promoted to defensive coordinator in 2011, and Philly's D had a top-10 defense in his first season in the role. He spent five years with the Baltimore Ravens and two seasons with the Buffalo Bills before returning with Chicago the last two years.
