Josh Jung Shut Down With Labral Strain
3 years agoTexas Rangers third baseman Josh Jung (shoulder) has been shut down with left shoulder soreness and has been diagnosed with a left labral strain. There is no word on his timetable for treatment and recovery. Spring training has been delayed until at least March 5 with the league still in a lockout, so that will give Jung a little extra time to heal, but there's no guarantee he'll be ready to go if/when spring training begins this year. The 24-year-old finished the 2021 season as MLB Pipeline's No. 48 overall prospect after hitting an impressive .326/.398/.592 with 19 home runs, 61 RBI and 54 runs in 78 games with Double-A Frisco and Triple-A Round Rock. It's notable that Jung's injury is to his non-throwing arm, but this could delay his development early in 2022.
