3 years agoToronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Hyun Jin Ryu tested negative for COVID-19 and will rejoin the Hanwha Eagles of the Korean Baseball Organization on Wednesday. Ryu is scheduled to work out with the Eagles until Major League Baseball's lockout is over. The 34-year-old left-hander wasn't nearly as good in 2021 as he was in his first season in Toronto during the shortened 2020 campaign. Ryu had a 4.37 ERA and 1.23 WHIP while striking out 143 and walking 37 in 169 innings over 31 starts. He was especially bad in the second half (5.50 ERA, 1.31 WHIP), and his changeup and cutter weren't as effective as in years past. Ryu, who has never gone over 200 innings in his career, is a risky fantasy selection at his current ADP after showing signs of decline in 2021.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
