Blaine Gabbert An Option To Replace Tom Brady?
3 years agoTampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Blaine Gabbert could be the team's starting QB in 2022 if Tom Brady doesn't come out of retirement. Kyle Trask would have to come very far to have a chance to start in Week 1 in his second NFL season. The 32-year-old Gabbert could compete with a free-agent acquisition like Teddy Bridgewater. Head coach Bruce Arians is high on Gabbert after he went 2-3 as an emergency starter for Arians with the Arizona Cardinals in 2017. The 10th overall pick of the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2011 has a career record of 13-35 as a starter with 50 touchdowns and 47 interceptions. Gabbert is 6-foot-5, 235 pounds, has a cannon for an arm and is mobile. His last start came back in 2018, but he likely benefitted from watching Brady run the offense the last two seasons.
