Jimmy Garoppolo Not A Lock To Be Traded
3 years agoSan Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo isn't a lock to be traded this offseason, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Trey Lance was probably further behind than most people realized in his rookie season and he's going to need a lot more development. If another team is willing to give up a first-round pick to trade for Garoppolo, he'll likely be gone, but if not, the 49ers could decide to hang onto him at a friendly $25 million salary cap number in 2022. When healthy, Jimmy G is also a proven winner and is well respected in the San Francisco locker room. The odds are still higher that the Niners trade him this offseason, but it all depends on the team's comfort level with Lance becoming the starter in 2022.
