Packers Never Promised To Trade Aaron Rodgers
3 years agoGreen Bay Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst said on Wednesday that he never promised quarterback Aaron Rodgers that he would trade him after the 2021 season. It was widely believed that Rodgers and the Packers had a handshake agreement that if he still wanted out after last season, that they would trade him. It's unlikely that Green Bay would force Rodgers to play only for them and they won't release him and let him get away for free, but Gutekunst said he's not tempted to take a haul of draft picks for Rodgers and/or wide receiver Davante Adams. Rodgers remains undecided on his future, but he's expected to make a decision soon. In the meantime, the team has started to work on creating salary cap space to potentially keep Rodgers around in 2022 and beyond.
