Rashaad Penny Could Be Backup If He Re-Signs With Seattle
3 years agoSeattle Seahawks impending free-agent running back Rashaad Penny, who led the league with 672 yards and six touchdowns in the final five games of the regular season, will be a hot commodity on the open market this offseason. If he returns to Seattle, the Seahawks would likely structure a deal that accounts for a smaller percentage of the salary cap than starter Chris Carson in 2022. If Penny returns, he will likely share the backfield with Carson, who should be the team's lead back moving forward, if healthy. That could be a big if, as he missed most of last year with a neck injury that required surgery in December. Carson is expected to be ready to go by training camp, and Penny's fantasy value would be capped if he's serving as more of a change-of-pace runner.
