Ezekiel Elliott Not Going Anywhere
3 years agoDallas Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones gave a ringing endorsement for running back Ezekiel Elliott on Monday. "I want Zeke on my team," Jones said. "He's a damn good running back, and I think he's going to help us win this year. Obviously, his contract, his money is guaranteed. He's going to be here, no question." The seventh-year running back's $12.5 million salary in 2022 is fully guaranteed, so cutting him would create over $30 million in dead money. The 26-year-old played through a knee injury last year that really slowed him down, but even when he was healthy, backup Tony Pollard looked just as good, if not better. Elliott surpassed 1,000 yards rushing for the fourth time in six seasons, but he limped to the finish line and could share more backfield duties with Pollard in 2022.
