3 years agoTexas Rangers outfield prospect Evan Carter (back), the team's No. 9 prospect per MLB Pipeline, has been taking batting practice at minor league camp. Carter, the team's second-round pick in 2020, missed most of last season due to a stress fracture in his back. The 19-year-old hit .236/.438/.387 with two home runs, 12 RBI and 12 stolen bases in 146 plate appearances over 32 games for Low-A Down East in his first professional season last year. The Rangers think Carter has five-tool upside from the left side of the plate, and he could hit for both power and average once he adds more muscle to his 6-foot-4 frame. Carter also has solid speed and covers plenty of ground in center field. Expect him to spend another couple seasons in the minors before he's a realistic option at the big-league level.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
