Chiefs Use Franchise Tag On Orlando Brown Jr.
3 years agoThe Kansas City Chiefs placed the franchise tag on offensive tackle Orlando Brown Jr. on Monday, according to league sources. Brown becomes the first impending free agent to have the franchise tag placed on him before the league's deadline on Tuesday. The Chiefs acquired Brown in a trade from the Baltimore Ravens and used him at left tackle to protect quarterback Patrick Mahomes' blind side last season. The 25-year-old was named to his third Pro Bowl and instantly solidified KC's offensive line. Brown will make around $16.5 million in 2022 under the tag, but it could just serve as a temporary placeholder while the two sides work out a long-term deal.
