Chargers Could Go After J.C. Jackson, Stephon Gilmore
3 years agoThe Los Angeles Chargers could be in the mix for New England Patriots impending free-agent cornerback J.C. Jackson and/or Carolina Panthers impending free-agent corner Stephon Gilmore this offseason. Jackson isn't expected to receive the franchise tag from the Patriots, so both he and Gilmore could reach the open market when the new league year begins on March 16. The franchise tag for cornerbacks is expected to be worth $17 million in 2022. The Chargers secondary could be one of the best in the NFL if they are able to pair safety Derwin James with one of Jackson or Gilmore. Jackson made his first Pro Bowl last year by recording 58 tackles (44 solo), eight interceptions and a league-high 23 passes defensed in 17 games. He has 25 interceptions in just four years in the NFL.
