Rams Making Matthew Stafford Extension A Priority
3 years agoThe Los Angeles Rams have made signing quarterback Matthew Stafford to a contract extension a priority, and one league source said Stafford's deal could go as high as $45 million per season. However, the Rams will try to keep the annual number closer to $35 million per year for a deal in the three- to four-year window. Head coach Sean McVay seems committed to Stafford while he's on the roster, so any Stafford extension could hint at McVay's own timeline for remaining with the team. Despite Stafford being a priority, The Athletic's Jourdan Rodrigue isn't getting an overwhelming sense of urgency for the team to rush through the process. In his first season in LA, Stafford threw for 4,886 yards, 41 touchdowns and a league-high 17 interceptions in the regular season before leading the Rams to a Super Bowl title. He'll be a popular QB1 target in 2022 fantasy drafts.
