Carlton Davis Expected To Hit Free Agency
3 years agoThe Tampa Bay Buccaneers are expected to let impending free-agent cornerback Carlton Davis hit the open market to gauge his value in free agency. Tampa wasn't prepared to use the franchise tag on Davis at $17.287 million, even if they didn't have to use it on wide receiver Chris Godwin. It's entirely possible that Davis goes elsewhere this offseason after he played in only 10 games in 2021 due to a quadriceps injury. The 25-year-old had 39 tackles (33 solo), one interception, 11 passes defensed and one fumble recovery for the Bucs last season. Although he has just six interceptions in his first four NFL seasons, the former second-round pick in 2018 should attract plenty of attention on the open market.
