The 23-year-old added an assist on the first period goal from forward Mikko Rantanen, who gave the Avalanche a two-goal advantage early on. Makar's goal extended his NHL lead among defenseman to 21 goals scored, as the closest player on the list is Predators blueliner Roman Josi, who ranks second with 15 goals this season.
