Saints Restructure Alvin Kamara's Deal
3 years agoThe New Orleans Saints converted $10.465 million of running back Alvin Kamara's 2022 compensation into a signing bonus on Friday, creating $8.372 million in salary cap space for the upcoming league year, according to a source. Still, the Saints remain more than $23 million over the salary cap, so they have plenty of work to do. Kamara was arrested in February for a battery incident in Las Vegas and could be facing a suspension for the 2022 season. The 26-year-old had his fifth straight Pro Bowl season in 2021, rushing for 898 yards and four touchdowns on a career-high 240 carries. He also had 47 receptions for 439 yards and five touchdowns on 67 targets in 13 games. Kamara has yet to top 1,000 yards rushing in his five seasons, but his receiving contributions usually make up for it. His legal issues could affect his RB1 fantasy value in 2022.
