BALLER MOVE: Add in All Leagues
ANALYSIS: After starting the season owned in 4% of leagues, Aaron Harang is now taken in 79% and is barely considered a ‘Waiver Wire player’ at this point. His last start may have been his best, going 6 innings, giving up only 1 run while striking out 11. It’s amazing looking at the great start he has gotten off to considering he is in his 13th season and was barely given a spot on this rotation. With him getting 3 wins and not allowing more than 1 earned run all season, I might not be in the majority saying his nice start might won't be lasting too much longer. I personally saw Harang pitch in person at Citi Field when he threw a no-hitter through 7 innings versus the Mets, and I was honestly flabbergasted at his stuff, or that said his lack of stuff. I looked into some of his extended numbers, and they aren’t pretty. Despite the 0.85 ERA, his FIP is at 2.23, and his xFIP is at 3.75. He also has a LOB% of 89.3%, a BB/9 of 3.69, and a ridiculous 0% HR/FB rate, which means guys are getting on, they just aren’t scoring. What this means is while he is off to an amazing early 2014, it might be hard for this streak to continue. So while the “Add in All Leagues” advice is one you should follow, you should try and sell high on Harang and if you can't, be ready to cut bait at a moments notice.
