Aaron Nola Allows One Run In Impressive MLB Debut

Aaron Nola was superb in his MLB debut on Tuesday when he held the Tampa Rays to one run in six innings of work.

Unfortunately for the rookie, he suffered the loss because he allowed a homerun to the opposing pitcher, Nate Karns. It was the only run of the game for either team.

Nola, 22, allowed five hits and a walk overall while striking out six in an impressive debut.

"It was pretty awesome to be out there and feel the energy of the fans out there and get to pitch at this level," Nola told Philly.com. "It was pretty amazing and a pretty good feeling tonight."

Karns delivered his first career home run while pitching five scoreless innings with three hits and four strikeouts.

The loss snapped a four-game winning streak for the last-place Phillies.

The next start for Nola will be next week against one of the best offenses in MLB, the Toronto Jays.
