Aaron Nola Makes MLB Debut With Phillies On Tuesday

The Philadelphia Phillies will be calling up Aaron Nola to make his MLB debut on the mound against the Tampa Rays, according to the Phillies Twitter account.

Nola, 22, has only been in the minors for less than two seasons. The right-hander has proved himself in such a short period of time through all the Phillies’ minor league teams. He started 2015 with Double-A Reading with a 7-3 record and a 1.88 ERA before making the move to Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Nola had a 3.58 ERA over six starts.

The Phillies (29-62) have the worst record in the MLB. They have no chance at making the playoffs this season. Tuesday will be an opportunity to see what Nola can do while getting some seasoning in the MLB.

Philly is riding a five-game losing streak going into the All-Star break. With the trade deadline looming, Nola could be making starts without Ryan Howard, Chase Utley and Ben Revere in the lineup because they could be playing with new teams.
