Abraham Toro (3B, HOU) - Week 22 Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues

OWNED IN: 0% of Yahoo! leagues

ANALYSIS: The Astros lost shortstop Carlos Correa to yet another stint on the injured list. They have recalled unheralded prospect Abraham Toro in his place. Toro is a third baseman, which will allow Alex Bregman to shift over to shortstop to cover Correa.

Toro is expected to get fairly regular playing time, and his minor league numbers suggest he could have some value in deeper leagues.

Toro slashed a combined .324/.411/.527 with 17 home runs, four stolen bases and 80 RBI between AA and AAA this year, and he quietly rose up the prospect rankings.

The Astros are certainly capable of developing hitters into stars - a la Yordan Alvarez - so Toro is worth a look in 14+ team leagues for those in need of corner infield help. At the very least, AL-only formats should be all over a young player like this, as he has the potential to immediately contribute with everyday reps and raw power.
