Adam Lind (1B / DH, TOR) - Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in Deeper Leagues, AL-Only Leagues

ANALYSIS: Adam Lind has had good years, where he was a hot add off the waiver wire, and he's had bad years where he's been dropped to the waiver wire. At his worst in 2010, he hit just .237 with an OPS .712. There was still some power as he hit 23 HR. Even then, a savvy fantasy owner could have started him vs righties as he hit .275 with 21 HR vs RHP. This year unsurprisingly that trend is continuing. In 15 games on the season Lind is hitting .306 with both of his HR vs righties. Lind is interesting because his lefty/righty splits are so extreme. If you are not the type of player that will pay attention to that sort of thing, you may end up hurting yourself. But if you are willing to take note of that, and are only starting him versus righties, then you are essentially getting a player with upside to be a top 10 1B when he's in the lineup (you'll have to minus a bit of playing time and stats of course). Lind is someone that should be considered in all leagues, and needs to be owned in any deeper format. Consensus: Embrace the beard.
