ANALYSIS: Sixteen weeks. It took Green Bay 16 weeks to keep rookie A.J. Dillon on the field for more than 14 offensive snaps and to hand him a heavy role on the backfield, but it finally happened. Oh, and Dillon showed why the Packers bet on him early during this last offseason's draft and why they will (most probably) turn him into their RB1 next season with Jamaal Williams and Aaron Jones both being upcoming free agents.
Dillon played in 62 percent of Green Bay's snaps this weekend against Tennessee. In a game that should have been dominated by Derrick Henry, it was Dillon who got all of the headlines. Dillon rushed the ball 21 (!) times for 124 yards averaging 5.9 YPC and scoring 2 touchdowns, his first of the season. Not happy with that, he also caught his lone target for 5 extra yards, capping off a great 25.9 PPR-point performance.
Dillon's RB6 finish on the W16 slate is definitely a fluke in his season game log. He had not even reached 5.0 PPR points prior to this game, although it must be said that playing 14 snaps (23% snap rate) in the game when he saw his largest usage before the W16 game didn't help him.
With the postseason secured, odds are Green Bay doesn't risk a thing in W17 and rest most of his top-tier players or give them minimal run against Chicago come Sunday. Even if he has to face backfield competition from teammates, Dillons should be the go-to player next week when it comes to rushing plays. The Bears Defense ranks ninth against opposing fantasy RBs, but even then Dillon carries a relatively high upside and has a good ceiling to exploit in deeper formats.
