Alex Cobb will throw a bullpen session Friday for the first time since he was placed on the disabled list right before the start of the 2015 MLB season, according to the Tampa Bay Times. This is big news for a Tampa Bay Rays team that has dropped four games in a row before Wednesday’s game. The 27-year-old has become the ace of the staff for a team that is rebuilding. Cobb was dealing with right forearm tendinitis that has cost him the first month of the season.
Cobb played catch Tuesday and Wednesday without issue and the right-hander is now ready to take the next step in his rehab, according to the Tampa Bay Times report. There's still no timetable for his return, though mid-May seems like a possibility.
#Rays have good news on RHP Alex Cobb (forearm) - played catch for 2nd straight day w/no pain, will throw first bullpen session on Friday.
