Alexander Mattison (RB, MIN) - Week 6 Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues

OWNED IN: 23% of leagues

ANALYSIS: We all know just how valuable handcuffs can be in fantasy football. Getting that one running back off the waiver wire late in the season after the lead running back goes down can really end up being a game-changer. One of the most valuable handcuffs right now is Alexander Mattison, the rookie running back for the Minnesota Vikings. Dalvin Cook has been breaking out in a major way and is currently RB3 in PPR scoring leagues and the RB2 in standard-scoring leagues.

Mattison is averaging 5.56 YPC this year but hasn't been involved in the passing game much with just one catch on the season. It's tough for anyone to put up good fantasy production when they're behind someone like Cook, so Mattison doesn't have much value alone. He can't be put in starting lineups but has great upside would anything happen to Cook. You can never bank on an injury to occur, but it's worth noting that Cook played in just four games in his rookie campaign and 11 games in 2018. If you have room to stash, Mattison is definitely worth a bench spot.
