BALLER MOVE: Target as a Waiver Wire Pickup (Current ADP: Undrafted)
With Wes Welker coming out of preseason week three with his third concussion in ten months, we are starting to wonder if he will continue to play the way that he has in the past, often taking very physical impacts and diving for the goalline in the Manning passing offense. This injury may provide a player like Andre Caldwell an opportunity to get extra playing time. ‘Bubba’ Caldwell has caught the ball well so far in the preseason. He also had receptions last season totaling 200 yards and three touchdowns in the regular season. He has some speed up the field, as well as hands to fit the slot receiver role that is currently vacant. The injury to Welker will open up a few more red zone targets for all of the mouths that Peyton Manning has to feed in Denver, but if you are looking for some red zone production with some legitimate upside, Andre Caldwell might be worth taking a look off the waiver wire if he has a nice first game or two and he's able to hold off the more talented Cody Latimer. The only downside to Caldwell is the question of volume, as Manning also has Emmanuel Sanders, Demaryius Thomas, and Julius Thomas that can and will lower his upside, and the aforementioned Latimer who might usurp his role after a few weeks.
