Andrew Miller Wins AL Reliever Of The Year

New York Yankees closer Andrew Miller was awarded the 2015 Mariano Rivera American League Reliever of the Year Wednesday night during the World Series.

Miller had 36 saves in his first year as the Yankees closer. The 30-year-old finished the season with a 2.04 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and 100/20 K/BB ratio over the course of 61 2/3 innings. He only blew two saves all season.

The only reason I might be somewhat of a surprise that he won the award for best reliever was because he missed some time because he was on the DL. The left-hander still had a great year in helping the Yankees win the AL Wild Card.

“This is an incredible honor, something I never dreamed of,” Miller said. “To be associated with anything with Mariano's name on it, probably more than I deserve. Nobody has a better reputation, and especially off the field, than him. It's something I'll cherish it.”
