ANALYSIS: Channing Frye put up another goose egg on Tuesday night so it's starting to feel like Andrew Nicholson could become the starting power forward in Orlando. Frye is very streaky and his value depends highly on the three-point shot. While one of those hot streaks can help a team win some games, the Magic have seen Nicholson produce much more consistently of late and it's no coincidence they've won their last five contests.
On Tuesday Nicholson put up 15 points in 31 minutes and grabbed six boards. He can also hit from downtown as he has seven three-pointers over the last five games, and he has five blocks as well during that span. Good rebounding combined with solid shooting and blocks is a nice commodity to have.
Right now Nicholson is just a speculative add, as we don't know if Scott Skiles will make a switch in the starting lineup. However, if you have a roster spot open, he's worth adding now while he's still under a lot of people's radars. Skiles has praised Frye recently as well, but his defensive scheme helps Nicholson just as much as it helps Frye. Frye's leash might be shorter than some think.
