BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 28% of leagues
ANALYSIS: The White Sox organization is famous for progressing their top prospects aggressively towards the MLB, particularly when the prospect came from the college ranks. In the case of former Berkeley 1B/LF turned 2019 third-overall draft pick Andrew Vaughn, he needed very little time to prove his readiness for the big stage, and he entered 2021 as a consensus top-25 prospect. In 596 NCAA AB, Vaughn clobbered 50 HR and netted a 1.183 OPS. He took 205 AB from Rookie to Single-A+ in 2019, coming away with 23 XBH (17 doubles, six homers) and a .278/.384/.449 slash.
Those were Vaughn's last minor league swings in 2019; he has been up with the White Sox all season for 130 AB thus far, collecting 14 XBH (ten doubles, four HR) and a slash of .231/.320/.400. He's striking out at an average clip and drawing walks at solid 9.3% frequency, but his cooking gets done via the 51.1% hard contact rate and 92.0 MPH average exit velocity. He has really started heating up over the last week, which doubles in value with the talented south-side bats providing tons of chances for runs and RBI. With infield/outfield eligibility as a deal-sweetener, the only thing you won't get out of Andrew Vaughn is steals; but in moderate-sized leagues, the MLB greenhorn is capable of contributing to every other offensive category.
