ANALYSIS: What is to be explained about this post? Not much, if you ask me. You know what happened on Sunday: Dak Prescott got injured (like, ultra-injured for the remainder of the season and maybe even further), Andy Dalton had to back him up, and the Red Rifle will be the starting QB for the Cowboys ROS. Head Coach Mike McCarthy confirmed the QB1 role for Dalton going forward at the end of the game; not that it was needed.
In his first game taking meaningful reps since 2019, Dalton wasn't incredible but did enough to show future upside. He attempted 11 passes, completed 9 of them (81.8%), and reached 111 yards to finish with an average of 10.1 Y/A. He couldn't complete any scoring play, but what can you ask him in just a short-notice performance?
Even if you don't like Dalton, or don't trust his abilities, or whatever, you need to target and add him, virtually in every league you play at. Why? Because more than about Dalton himself, this pickup is about Dallas as a whole. The Cowboys have one of the most booming offenses of the NFL. Their wideouts are all great, they have a breakout-TE, and Ezekiel Elliott will keep defenses honest with his rushing prowess.
Most of Dallas offensive performance was obviously related to Dak Prescott's talent, sure, but almost half of it was basically possible to reach thanks to that offense's level alone. Dalton will fill the hole nicely and hand you fantasy goodies weekly even if he underperforms, and Dallas has no depth past Dalton at the QB spot. Must add.
