The Los Angeles Angels signed RHP Huston Street to a two-year, $18 million contract extension with a $10 million club option for 2018, according to the Los Angeles Times.
The veteran closer will now have the opportunity to be the closer for the next few seasons for LAA as it hopes to chase a World Series trophy. According to the report, there’s also an option for a $1 million buyout. Street was due to become a free agent after the season.
Street, 31, has 11 saves in 13 chances this season. He was traded from San Diego to the Angels in the middle of last season. Since joining LAA, Street owns a 2.25 ERA, 1.175 WHIP, 38/12 K/BB ratio, and 28 saves in 40 innings.
He had 41 saves combined last season and has 286 in his career. Street is currently finishing up a six-year, $43 million deal originally signed with the Rockies.
