Anibal Sanchez (Shoulder) Still Not Throwing, Could Be Out A While

Aninbal Sanchez has yet to resume throwing as he continues to deal with a right rotator cuff strain, according to The Detroit Free Press.

The Tigers starting pitcher suffered the injury last week but won’t be back on the mound anytime soon as fantasy playoffs begin or are looming.

I think he's just getting treatment right now," Tigers manager Brad Ausmus told The Detroit Free Press. "He won't pick up a ball until he's asymptomatic." Sanchez has a history of shoulder problems, so Detroit figures to proceed cautiously with him.

Sanchez, 31, is 10-10 with a 4.99 ERA this season and has been struggling of late. The right-hander allowed 17 runs over his last 20 1/3 innings pitched. The 10-year veteran has been one of the better Tigers pitcher ever since he was traded to Detroit in 2012. He’s owned a 3.74 ERA, career best 2.57 ERA in 2013 and a 3.43 ERA last season.

If he’s healthy, he’s a proven pitcher. Maybe he’ll be available at the end of fantasy playoffs, which makes him a sleeper.
