Adrian Beltre is day-to-day after he left Thursday’s Game 1 against the Toronto Blue Jays while running to first base.
The Texas Rangers slugger underwent an MRI after leaving the game in the third inning. The results revealed no structural damage to Beltre’s back, which is better news than possibly expected.
Adrian Beltre has a back strain. No structural damage. Not ruled out for Game 2 but seems unlikely. Got an injection. #Rangers

The third baseman exited in the third inning after what was an RBI single. He is dealing with a back strain, which means he could possibly give it a go for Friday’s ALDS Game 2. It’s better news than the possibility of suffering a herniated disk, which knocked teammate Prince Fielder out of almost all of the 2014 season.
Beltre did receive a cortisone shot, which should help. What won’t help is that Friday’s game is at 12:45 ET. There might not be enough time for the 36-year-old to recover and be in the lineup. It’s going to be a tough bat for the Rangers to replace because despite a slow start to the season, Beltre finished with a .287 BA, 18 HR and 83 RBI.
