Adrian Beltre will start once again at third base for the Texas Rangers on Wednesday against the Toronto Blue Jays for Game 5.
After starting Game 4 after missing Game 2 and 3, Beltre’s back responded well enough to the nine innings he played on Monday. The 36-year-old will bat cleanup behind Prince Fielder and in front of Mitch Moreland.
Beltre went 2-for-4 with two singles during the Game 4 loss. The Rangers will need his .287 BA, 18 HR and 83 RBI that he provided this season in order to hang with the offense of the Blue Jays that scored eight runs on Monday.
Game 5 full lineup for the Rangers: Delino DeShields CF, Shin-Soo Choo RF, Prince Fielder DH, Adrian Beltre 3B, Mitch Moreland 1B, Josh Hamilton LF, Elvis Andrus SS, Rougned Odor 2B, Chris Gimenez C.
Cole Hamels will start for the second time in the series. The left-hander allowed two earned runs for the no-decision in his first start. Toronto will have Marcus Stroman on the mound after allowing three earned runs for the no-decision during his first start. The winning team heads to the ALCS on Friday.
