Adrian Beltre was playing through a torn ligament in his left thumb during the second half of the 2015 season.
Texas Rangers general manager Jon Daniels confirmed the news on Friday. His third baseman played through the pain as the Rangers went from being below .500 to the AL West champions. Unfortunately for them, their season came to an end on Wednesday when the Toronto Blue Jays eliminated them in the decisive Game 5.

Despite his struggles through the beginning of the season, Beltre actually played much better during the second half. The 36-year-old finished his 18th MLB season with a .287 BA, 18 HR and 83 RBI thanks to a second-half batting line of .305/.357/.479 batting line over the final 92 games.
Beltre will likely receive surgery during the off-season to repair the torn ligament. He still has one more year left on his contract at $18 million for the season.
