Analysis: Bilal Powell has suddenly become an integral part of the surging New York Jets offense. He is coming off his best two fantasy weeks and now heads into another likable matchup against the Dallas Cowboys Saturday night.
According to Yahoo! Sports, the Cowboys give up 113.8 rushing yards a game and surrender the fifth most fantasy points to running backs. But Powell's strengths are primarily his catch-and-run and big play abilities. He has 300 receiving yards on 35 receptions, and has really made more noise in those categories the past two weeks against the Giants and Titans. In that span, Powell caught 13 passes for 137 yards and two touchdowns.
What's even more appealing about scooping up Powell is not only his involvement in the Jets offensive attack but how much he's been used and targeted in the red zone, and New York's red zone efficiency in general. The Jets visit the red zone 4.2 times a game, score 1.7 touchdowns inside the 20, and own a red zone scoring percentage of 57.4, third highest in the league.
Look for New York to keep their winning streak and run at the playoffs going in Dallas, with Powell in the offensive mix once again. He is a solid option in the FLEX, with more upside than down, especially in PPR formats.
