ANALYSIS: Blake Treinen opened the season as the Nationals' closer, but early struggles led to him quickly losing that role. Washington's bullpen was a nightmare during the entire first half, so they made a deal with the Athletics to acquire their best two relievers, Sean Doolittle and Ryan Madson. Treinen was part of the package going the other way, and he's looked much better since arriving in Oakland. The 29-year-old has been a workhorse out of the bullpen, tossing 27 2/3 innings in 24 appearances with quality ratios (2.60 ERA, 1.08 WHIP) and a 9.8 K/9. While he's been saddled with the loss in each of his last three appearances, Treinen has also converted his last six save opportunities. He's one of the few closers available in a majority of Yahoo leagues, making him a smart pickup for any owners clawing for saves in September.
