BALLER MOVE: Add in All Saves Leagues
OWNED IN: 32% of Yahoo Leagues
ANALYSIS: Current closer Zach Britton had been placed on the disabled list for the Baltimore Orioles with a forearm injury. It's unclear how long he will be sidelined for, and Brad Brach is expected to serve as the closer for now. This is a surprising turn of events for the Orioles and fantasy owners, as Britton is considered one of the best closers in the game.
Darren O'Day may be another option for saves opportunities, but we anticipate Brach getting the first chance given his dominant numbers and experience. Last year, he held a sparkling 2.05 ERA and 1.04 WHIP, to go along with a 92:25 K:BB ratio in 79 innings pitched. This year he's off to a great start as well, giving up zero earned runs in six IP, to go along with a 10:3 K:BB ratio.
If you are in a league that values saves, Brach is a solid waiver wire add for near-term save chances. He is only 32% owned in Yahoo leagues. He can give you elite ratios while earning saves, and could potentially be an elite fantasy baseball closer if he were to hang on to the role for an extended period of time.
