BALLER MOVE: Add in All Leagues

ANALYSIS: Bradley Zimmer has come back to earth in August after what appeared to be a breakout performance in July. However, given the injuries the Indians have been forced to fight through and the team’s remaining schedule, Zimmer is worth adding thanks the power and speed upside he has already shown.
Even with the addition of Jay Bruce, the Indians outfield is in flux given the uncertain health of both Michael Brantley and Lonnie Chisenhall. That will give Zimmer the chance to see continued at-bats and to break out of his current slump, which does include a concerning 40% strikeout rate in August. As for the positive, Zimmer’s remaining schedule includes 30 games of intradivision play. The White Sox, Twins, and Tigers all have a team ERA over 4.60 with each ranking in the bottom third of the league in the stat. Thus, Zimmer will see plenty of poor pitching down the stretch, which will give him the opportunity to flash his power-speed production once again.
Of course, Zimmer will have to have bring his 40% strikeout rate for the month of August down in order to live up to that potential. As Lonnie Chisenhall and Michael Brantley return, it will also be worth monitoring Zimmer’s playing time, but Zimmer’s upside and juicy matchups to close the season make him a player to add for the stretch run.
