BALLER MOVE: Add in 2QB Leagues
OWNED IN: 2% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: Brandon Allen was the one to replace Joe Flacco and probably end his tenure in Denver prematurely after the veteran fell to injury. Allen is not young himself but is the only quarterback playable by the Broncos with Drew Lock in IR. Allen was able to play his first game ever in the NFL back in Week 9 and he didn’t have a bad performance.
In fact, Allen’s 19 fantasy points were good for someone starting for the first time in the league. He limited his chances at a bad game to the extreme, throwing only 20 passes and completing 12 of them for a couple of touchdowns. He avoided interceptions and fumbles and finished the day with 9.7 yards per attempt, adding 13 yards on the ground too. As far as what Allen will have to work with, Courtland Sutton has been a revelation this season while Noah Fant exploded played under him in Week 9. Running backs Royce Freeman and Philip Lindsay have less impact in terms of Allen’s fantasy upside, but both are capable of receiving the ball and can help him in the passing game.
Although Allen is probably not going to be a league winner and should only be rostered in 2QB leagues or used as a streaming option, he could be a nice addition in the mold of other backups quarterbacks this season in other teams. He will probably not give you massive points, and his ceiling is going to be capped if only because he might avoid mistakes by limiting his game, but he could turn into a nice 15-to-20 fantasy points getter weekly.
