BALLER MOVE: Add in 2QB Leagues
OWNED IN: 2% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: After seeing him go down with an injury, the Broncos opted to place Joe Flacco on injured reserve and thus to end his season. Enter Brandon Allen, the 27-year-old backup quarterback for Denver that took the reigns of the team for the first time in his career this past weekend. Allen wasn’t great, but he wasn’t bad either. He just limited his errors and went with the game flow to finish the day with a win in his box.
All in all, Allen’s 19 fantasy points debut wasn’t bad at all. He completed just 12 of 20 passes for 193 yards, but he threw for two touchdowns and no picks, also not causing any fumble. His yards per attempt were good at 9.7 and he even added 13 extra yards on the ground. The Broncos have proved to be nothing out of this world, but Allen has some interesting weapons on offense as to inflict some damage here and there. Courtland Sutton has exploded as a true no. 1 receiver, Noah Fant looks like a solid tight end, and both Royce Freeman and Phillip Lindsay have good hands to help on the receiving side of the game from the backfield.
Allen shouldn’t be someone you should be anxious or actively hunting for, but if you happen to play in a deeper league in which you must play a couple of quarterbacks weekly, he could be a good stash now that Denver is going on a bye and we are entering the heavy part of the season with regards to that. Injuries keep happening around the league and securing yourself a starter might pay dividends in the long run. Again, consider Allen just a 2QB streamer at best and add him only if you have ample room to stash him for a week.
