BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 46% of leagues
ANALYSIS: The serial fantasy disappointment, Brandon Belt, might be having that long-awaited breakout year. Through 18 games, Belt is hitting a career-high .290 with five home runs, and ten RBI. Add in the random steal on occasion, and there is a complete package that should excite fantasy owners. Digging a bit deeper, the profile is intriguing. To add to a career-high in AVG are career-highs in both OBP at .392 and SLG at .581. Not only is Belt getting on base more, but doing more damage at the plate in the process. Add in the dual-eligibility and this is a must add and must start profile even if he begins to cool off a bit.
Most owners who have been burned by Belt have seen this before, so why trust this year’s outburst? This is a completely different hitter. Belt has increased his Pull% from 39.4% last year to 47.6% this year, and this has resulted in a close to 10 point jump in his Hard%. Besides, Belt has dropped his GB% from 29.7% to a career-low 22% meaning harder contact elevated off the bat. The power surge is working, and even when playing in the worst park for left-handed power Belt seems to be ready to take the next step. 30+ HR could be realistic this season.
