BALLER MOVE: Add in Deep Leagues
ANALYSIS: Brandon Belt has quietly emerged as one of the more productive (11th-ranked) first basemen in the last week of live action. He has recorded a hit in each of his last five games dating back to July 9, while sporting a .stellar .353 BA and .529 OBP. Just one day prior to beginning this mini hot-streak, Belt easily had one of the most miserable performances a player can have: in a 16-inning game against the Mets, Belt finished 0-8 at the plate with five strikeouts (platinum sombrero!). It appears, however, that the performance has lit a fire under Belt and made him reevaluate his approach. A top preseason sleeper pick for many fantasy experts, Belt had been written off by most owners due to his underwhelming first-half stat line. Currently owned in only 30% of Yahoo leagues, now is a great opportunity to invest in a second-half "breakout candidate" with plenty of games still left to play. Belt isn't a "must-own" player at the moment, but he is certainly worth a solid look in 12 -team leagues or deeper.
