Analysis: For those of you depending on Brandon Kintzler for saves, you can breathe a sigh of relief (unintended pun). Fernando Abad is en route to Boston, which means Kintzler's only real competition for saves is gone. He now has the keys to the not-so-pleasant Target Field kingdom. The 32-year old has found new life this year for the despondent Twins and has been rock-solid with a 2.14 ERA and 1.07 WHIP. While he has very low strikeout numbers at just 5.6 K/9, he has had scalpel-like precision with the strike zone and has allowed just 0.8 BB/9. After throwing 10.1 innings in May with a goose-egg in the saves department, he finally was able to earn three saves in 11.1 IP in June. In July Kintzler pitched 12 innings, produced a 1.50 ERA, and picked up five saves. Since June 21st he has a 1.02 ERA, 0.905 WHIP, and six saves. Kintzler may not be a sexy pickup but he is pitching at the top of his game and has a safe role as the Twins closer. If you don't need your pickup to be a thrill ride, Kintzler will suit you nicely.
