BALLER MOVE: Target ~310
CURRENT ADP: 347.5
ANALYSIS: Brandon Moss had a disappointing season in 2015, starting the year in Cleveland before being traded to St. Louis. He finished the year with 19 home runs and 58 RBI. Those are not bad numbers for a bench player, but beware of his .226 average from a year ago.
Moss has never been mistaken for a good hitter, as evident by his career .243 average. However, he's always had some pop, belting 30 homers in 2013 and 25 in 2014 with Oakland. Those power numbers were put up in a home park that's not known for being friendly to hitters.
Hitting in a good St. Louis lineup this season, Moss could be a sneaky source of RBI for his owners.
The problem with him being in St. Louis this season is the fact that he's likely to be in a platoon role at first base with the talented Matt Adams.
Moss has put up pretty typical numbers this spring, recording a .244 average in 45 at bats with a homer and seven RBI.
Experts at RotoBaller have Moss ranked 28th among first basemen for this year. The thing that gives Moss some extra value is the fact that in some leagues, he's eligible as an outfielder. Playing the outfield will also give him a chance to get more at bats with the Cardinals, instead of playing in a split with Adams.
Based on where he's been going, you'd probably be able to find him on the waiver wire after your draft if you are in a smaller league. However, if you want a versatile player with some power to fill a bench spot, pull the trigger on him in one of the last rounds.
