Brandon Moss and his frustrated fantasy owners may have had little to be proud of in 2015 as he scuffled mightily, but a late season trade to the Red Birds gave his fortunes a slight turnaround.
If you are wondering how this story may play out in 2016--that of an aging slugger falling on hard times--you need look no further than Moss's once-fellow Tribesman, Nick Swisher. Much like Swisher before him, Moss' ability to use his power has deteriorated with age. As his BABIP has decreased (his .265 mark killed any chance of his Cleveland career turning out well) so has his ability to make contact with power. The Cardinals are banking on Moss continuing where he left off after joining St. Louis in late 2015, as a .335 BABIP has allowed him to appear more like his Oakland self. Moss is best left as a bench player or free agent to watch, especially with Matt Adams lurking behind him on the depth chart.
