ANALYSIS: Brett Lawrie has been one of many fortunate players swinging a bat for the Chicago White Sox this season. Owning the best record in the American League, the White Sox continue to piece together wins and throw together a deep lineup daily. Batting sixth in that lineup is Lawrie, who will be continuously presented with ribbie opportunities in front of guys like Jose Abreu, Todd Frazier, and Melky Cabrera. He has 12 already on the season and has been playing more than average at second base to ensure his spot in the lineup. Although, it's his bat that could turn heads throughout the season.
It's hard to ignore Lawrie's strikeout frequency (41 times already this season), but let's attempt to and overshadow his 30.1 K% with all the good he can provide to a fantasy lineup. His BABIP sits at .388 and he's been getting on base via the walk 12.5%, resulting in his solid .368 OBP. With him getting on base, Lawrie could inch close to his career high of 13 stolen bases in 2012. He was caught stealing eight times that year, but the fact that he isn't hesitant to run is comforting. He's tallied two on four attempts so far this season. He continues to hit both fastballs and changeups well, and adds a ton of potential power along with his potential speed. With four home runs early on in the 2016 campaign, Lawrie could very well reach or exceed his career high of 16 home runs last season with the Toronto Blue Jays.
