Despite winning the Silver Slugger award, Brian McCann was at the center of the Yankees late-season offensive struggles. After batting .289 in June, McCann hit .206 in July, .224 in August, and a dismal .177 in September. McCann did finish the year with a career-high 26 home runs and a career-high 96 RBI's, but his .232 batting average and 97 strikeouts spell some hesitation for fantasy owners.
McCann is ranked as the third-best fantasy catcher on ESPN, and fourth on CBS Sports, mainly because, amidst his struggles, he was the Yankees' main source of power. Heading into 2016, he will likely inherit similar duties. Only Buster Posey could give him a run for his money when it comes to catcher-production. The hesitation revolves around the pull-happy catcher's inability to hit against defensive shifts. If this isn't solved, and he doesn't start lining outside pitches to the opposite field, his average will sway around .230 once more. Regardless, McCann should still be one of the top five catchers drafted in any league, as his power, especially in Yankee Stadium, is undoubtable.
