BALLER MOVE: Target Late in Dynasty Leagues (Current ADP: Undrafted)
ANALYSIS: Just a year ago Bryce Brown was one of the hottest running back handcuffs to own in the fantasy world. This past offseason Brown was traded to the Buffalo Bills, causing the Bryce Brown fantasy obsession to all but die out. People looked at the change of scenery in a negative light because he would be joining a backfield that already included CJ Spiller and Fred Jackson. But if you really looks at the big picture, this was a blessing in disguise for Brown, and here’s why.
If Brown had remained in Philadelphia, he would be no more than a backup to LeSean McCoy, and a solid handcuff in the fantasy world. Sure, if McCoy got inured then Brown would have become an instant RB1, but hoping and waiting for an injury isn’t the most advisable thing to do. Now that Brown is in Buffalo, he has a chance to be the starting RB by 2015 if not sooner. CJ Spiller is on the last year of his deal, and has been mentioned as a possible trade target. Meanwhile, Fred Jackson is running on 33 years of age now, and we know what happens to running backs after 30.
There’s a reason why Buffalo went out and acquired Brown this offseason, and its not to be their 3rd string RB for the next few years. Monitor this situation really closely throughout the next few weeks, and in dynasty leagues Brown is a high end late round target. Even in redraft leagues, Brown will have significant value if either Spiller or Jackson goes down.
