Madison Bumgarner won't start the in the regular-season finale on Sunday for the San Francisco Giants.
There’s no physical issue that is keeping the Giants ace off the mound against the Colorado Rockies on Sunday. The 2014 World Series champions are simply going to shut Bumgarner down and let him start to prepare for the 2016 season.
Bumgarner won't pitch Sunday. Probably Petit.

The left-hander finishes with an 18-9 record, 2.93 ERA, 1.01 WHIP, and 234/39 K/BB ratio in 218 1/3 innings and very much in the conversation for the NL Cy Young. He’ll unlikely win the coveted award because of the seasons Zack Greinke, Clayton Kershaw and Jack Arrieta are having. The 26-year-old will have to settle for the World Series ring and the World Series MVP.
Yusmeiro Petit could take his turn Sunday against the Rockies. The 30-year-old only has one start this season while the rest of his 39 appearances have been from out of the bullpen. He owns a 3.65 ERA this year.
