Miguel Cabrera is likely to be activated before Aug. 19, according to what Detroit Tigers manager Brad Ausmus told MLive Media.
#Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said it "wouldn't shock me" if Miguel Cabrera rejoined team by the end of the next road trip, which is Aug. 19.

Despite not having their star player for over a month and trading away key players, the Tigers are only four games out of the second Wild Card spot in the American League. Cabrera, 32, is a two-time MVP and the only player to win the Triple Crown over the last 45 years. The first baseman was placed on the DL on July 4 for the first time in his MLB career with a left calf strain, so he’s chomping at the bit to get back out there for the final stretch.
"In my mind, before [the trades], I was like yeah, I need to rush it because I want to be in the field," Cabrera told MLB.com on Tuesday. "But right now, everybody's talked to me and told me [to slow down] because they see I want to push it. They see me and say, 'No, calm down and try to get better, be smart.'"
Can the Tigers make one last push and reach the postseason for a fifth consecutive season?
